News Release

August 1, 2018

For immediate release

Mayor Bryan King, Town of Bishop’s Falls, announced today the Town launched a new website, Facebook page, and Twitter account.  “For the past year, we have been actively working to redesign and modernize our online presence.  Our website was old and needed updating, and we are long overdue regarding social media.  It was important for us to make sure we had the resources to maintain these important communication tools along with the supporting policies.  All these matters are worked out, and I’m very pleased to say that effective August 1, 2018, the Town of Bishop’s Falls is on Facebook and Twitter!  Our website is also modernized and correlates to our new brand”, said Mayor King.

“Our social media presence, in essence, will be used to increase awareness of the Town’s programs, services, projects, and infrastructure.  We will also use it to advise residents of important information (i.e., waterline breaks) and things of this nature.  At times, social media may be used to engage residents in a discussion about certain topics, similar to what we did earlier in the year for recreation programs”, stated Mayor King.

The website, in addition to typical characteristics, will have community and stadium calendars that residents can subscribe to, tenders, minutes, budgets, regulations, forms, etc.   It also contains a “submit a concern button” that residents can use to bring an issue to the Town’s attention.  Mayor King added, “We are still uploading content to the website, so it will only improve with time.  If anyone would like to add an event to our community calendar, feel free to contact Candace Seymour at candace@bishopsfalls.ca.”

Mayor King concluded by saying, “Our new online presence enables us to be more interactive with our residents.  We welcome all comments, negative and positive, but we cannot tolerate submissions that are abusive, hateful, or defamatory.  We will delete these posts.  Our new website and social media presence will change the way we engage our residents, and Council very much looks forward to this open way of communicating!”
